Expert colorist Amanda George gives her insight on the color trend this summer.
Vivid colour was a big hit at the spring/summer collections and some of hair’s most creative artists have been taking the trend to the tips to create a look that is both bold and beautiful.
Neil George Salon colorist Sarah Conner’s client Gillian Zinser was one of the original two tone pioneers but in the last few months more and more women are embracing the color tips trend. It’s a look that I find refreshing, it won’t work for everyone - it requires a maverick sensibility which means it won’t get too played out.
If you’re not ready to commit – try some colored extensions and turn down the volume as and when you need to. But if you love the look, go for it, just start with 2 or 3 inches and and ‘remove’ them with a cut.
The longer your hair, the more color you can add to the ends without fear of overwhelming your regular color. Take Kacey Welch and Sarah Conner’s clients Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor (founders of Juicy Couture and their new line Skaist-Taylor) who were recently featured on the cover of Women’s Wear Daily sporting the two toned look. It is unconventional but it works perfectly for these two creative dynamos.
