1940s hair: do a search of this and images populate of stars like Grace Kelly and Veronica Lake, the glamorous era of old Hollywood. The hair is soft, styled, curled, and is often paired with red lipstick. 😉 As retro as this look may be, we still see it done on every red carpet today. Pulling inspiration from both Jessica Chastain and Angela Kinsey’s hair at this year’s SAG Awards, Neil George Salon stylist Allie Paronelli gives us her pro tips on how to re-create the look yourself, no red lipstick required, but highly recommended.
To start, you’ll need a one to 1.5 inch barrel curling iron (we use Hot Tools), metal hair clips, brush (by Mason Pearson), a couple bobby pins, and Neil George Perfect Hold Hairspray.
Step 1 –Section hair into a deep side part.
Step 2- Take 1.5 inch sections and spray with Neil George Perfect Hold Hairspray. Curl hair from roots to ends and use metal hair clips to pin afterwards. Make sure all sections are rolled under.
Step 3- Let hair set and cool.
Step 5- Use a bobby pin to pull back side, and spray Neil George Perfect Hold Hairspray all over to set!
